Savoring Spanish Wines at Una's Wine Lust The 7th Edition


We were recently invited to Una, the elegant Spanish restaurant located in the historic Alkaff Mansion for their Wine Lust The 7th Edition wine and tapas pairing. As media guests, we were excited to get a preview of the oenological adventure that awaits patrons from 15 August to 10 September.

For S$88++ per person, guests can enjoy a specially curated menu that pairs Spanish wines with tapas. The tasting commenced with cold tapas, featuring luxurious oysters dressed with verjus and avruga caviar. This was paired with the zesty Pazo Das Bruxas Albarino. Next came the Salmorejo, a chilled tomato soup made decadent with quail's egg, jamon iberico and muscatel vinegar.

The hot tapas did not disappoint either. The charred octopus with saffron potatoes was smoky and supple, pairing beautifully with the bright, coastal Albarino. My favorite was the Piquillo peppers stuffed with creamy Atlantic cod and crowned with basil spheres, matched with the juicy cherry notes of the Mount Riley Pinot Noir.

Ending the tasting on a high note was the chuletillas, the luscious lamb rack paired with a bold, oaky Torres Gran Coronas Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines and tapas were excellently paired, providing a journey through diverse Spanish wine regions and flavors.
